Rio Metro’s Seniors Ride Free program has been extended through 2020! Seniors age 62+ can ride any New Mexico Rail Runner Express train at no cost every Wednesday through the entire year. This is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to explore New Mexico’s outstanding local restaurants, museums, and shops, as well as the great outdoors.
How it Works
Every Wednesday seniors age 62+ can ride any north or southbound train for free. Just show the onboard ticket agent your valid photo ID (must contain your birth date).
Bus Transfer : If you are planning on making a connection to an ABQ RIDE, Santa Fe Trails or Rio Metro bus, ask your ticket agent to print out a free bus transfer slip.

Fun Things to Do
There are several low-cost and no-cost ways to have fun once you reach your destination.
Eat & Drink! There are several outstanding local restaurants in walking distance of the Santa Fe Depot.
Shop & Play! Enjoy a movie at the Violet Crown Cinema or do some shopping at Railyard shops and galleries; both are just steps from the Santa Fe Depot. Or, take the free Santa Fe Pick-Up Shuttle to the Plaza.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors! Bring you bike on the train and ride the Santa Fe Rail Trail at the Railyard. Don’t have a bike? Rent one at the Eco Motive bike shop, located just steps away from the Santa Fe Depot.
Eat & Drink! There are several restaurants and breweries in walking distance of the Downtown ABQ Station. Or, from the Downtown ABQ Station catch the ABQ RIDE Route 66 bus east to the University or Nob Hill area for more options.
Local Art! From the Downtown ABQ Station, catch the ABQ RIDE Route 66 or 766 bus west to Central and Rio Grande to explore Old Town. Shop the locally-owned stores with unique art, jewelry, clothing, and hand-crafted goods, along with great restaurants.
Visit a Museum! Exit the train at the Downtown ABQ Station and take the ABQ RIDE Route 66 or 766 bus west to Central and Rio Grande; walk about half-a-mile north to these museums:
Outdoor Recreation! Take the grandkids on a stroll through the ABQ BioPark Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Both are a short ABQ RIDE bus trip from the Downtown ABQ Station.
