Los Lunas Flush with Spring Events

King of the Hill Trail Run in Los Lunas

Whether your interest is art, outdoor adventure, trains, or family fun, the Village of Los Lunas has lots to offer both locals and visitors this spring. 

For Art Lovers

For those who enjoy art and history, Ayer, Hoy, Y Mañana – Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow: An Exhibition of Traditional Hispanic Arts is an exhibit not to be missed. Ayer, Hoy, y Mañana highlights the craftsmanship and authentic traditions of fifty-five award-winning Spanish Colonial Artists from New Mexico and Southern Colorado. The exhibition consists of woodcarvings, tinwork, colchas, straw appliqué, furniture, weavings, jewelry, pottery, and ironwork. March 1 to May 3 at the Los Lunas Museum of Heritage and Arts.

Calling All Trail Runners

Looking for a challenge? Take a shot at King of the Hill! This unique race offers 100% trail running at 5k, 10k, and half marathon distances. The races take place in the beautiful and challenging trails of El Cerro de Los Lunas Preserve. The courses feature beautiful views and large elevation changes on the 10k and half marathon courses. This year’s event, which takes place on Saturday, March 9, will be the biggest and best yet!

Activities for Kids and Families

The Village of Los Lunas offers something fun for kids of all ages this spring. From March 3-11, the Village is hosting its annual Spring Outdoor Adventures program at the Los Lunas River Park. Kids age 8-12 can participate in activities like rock wall climbing, archery, and hiking, as well as learn about survival skills. The cost is $35 per child, and includes lunch each day. Register in advance at the Daniel Fernandez Recreation Center (25 registrants will be accepted).

For the younger crowd, the Village will also be hosting its annual Egg Hunt on Wednesday, April 17. Kids ages 0-13 are invited to hunt for thousands of eggs and take pictures with the Easter Bunny.

For the Love of Trains

From May 11-15, 2019, train and model railroad enthusiasts of all ages are invited to the SouthWest Model Railroad Club’s Vendor Show and Exhibit at the Los Lunas Transportation Center. The exhibit will feature a large operational model railroad layout. Vendors selling a variety of goods including model trains and model train components, crafts, hobby items, and more will be on hand both Saturday and Sunday.
