Sugar Skull Fun Run

Bernalillo County Commissioner Art De La Cruz, District 2, presents the 1st Annual Sugar Skull Fun Run. This family friendly event features a 2.5K and a 5K, as well as face painting and costume contests for children. Proceeds benefit the Storehouse, New Mexico's largest food pantry. $15 per person.

This timely one-act tells the story of 12-year-old Miguel who flees a repressive Central American military regime for a new life in Los Angeles.  Along the way he meets up with an unusual traveling companion, La Llorona, the legendary "Weeping Woman" of Mexican and Central American mythology. A family-friendly production.

First Annual People's Festival

The first annual People's Festival Matanza, Chile and Salsa competition is a weekend of competition, entertainment, traditions and family fun. There is something for everyone to enjoy from the arm wrestling tournament, the 5K run & walk, browsing through the Artisans climate controlled tents or simply enjoying the entertainment on two stages. There will be special shuttles from the Los Ranchos/Journal Center station to this event.
