Reduced fares on the New Mexico Rail Runner Express

Reduced Fares are available to:

    • Senior citizens age 62 and over.
    • Students with a valid student I.D. or proof of enrollment.
    • Youth ages 10-17. Students 9 and under ride FREE.
    • People that show a Medicare card.
    • People with disabilities that show disability notification from the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Department, letter from the doctor indicating the disability (with expiration date), ABQ Ride Honored Citizen card or a Disabled Veteran I.D. card.
    • Veterans with a VHIC (VA Medical Card) are eligible to receive a free Annual Pass. Learn about this program.

Reduced Fares Online

Reduced fare train tickets may be purchased online or on our app. If you qualify for a discount, be sure to use the drop-down menu to get the reduced fare. You must have a printer or be able to show your ticket on a mobile device onboard the train. Reduced Fares on the Train

After consulting a schedule, simply go to the New Mexico Rail Runner Express station and get on the appropriate train. After the train starts moving, a ticket agent in a yellow vest will come by and collect fares. You can pay with cash or credit card. Tickets are cheaper if you purchase them in advance on our website.

New Mexico Rail Runner Express Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Tickets are not refundable if lost, damaged, stolen or destroyed. Tickets are also not refundable if the passenger purchased a ticket and didn’t use it, purchased the wrong date or wrong station or if a ticket is purchased at a discounted rate without qualification. Tickets purchased using the mobile app will not be refunded if accidentally activated.
