A Faster Way To Santa Fe

Express TrainOn May 21, 2012, the New Mexico Rail Runner Express began operating the very first Express Train on early morning and late evening weekday trains. The Rio Metro Regional Transit District has worked with area transit providers to continue to provide connections to the train. Here are some important details about the new Express Trains.

  • One northbound and one southbound express train has been added between Albuquerque and Santa Fe for weekday runs.
  • The express train is noted as #101 Express and #102 Express on the new schedule.

Express Trains #101 and #102 will roll out with fewer stops along the corridor and have a second locomotive for the uphill climb to Santa Fe. Passengers traveling between Los Ranchos and South Capitol Station will get to their destinationin just one hour and three minutes. This is very comparable to vehicle travel times. A few service adjustments have been made to the current weekday schedule to accommodate the addition of the Express Train.
