Rail Safety Week

Rail Safety Week Logo

The Rio Metro Regional Transit District and the New Mexico Rail Runner Express have had a commitment to safety from day one. Rail Safety Week is an initiative spearheaded by Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI), the national rail safety and education nonprofit, and one of Rio Metro's partner organizations. It takes place in mid-September each year. Annual campaigns are focused on educating the public about how to reduce injuries and fatalities at rail stations and crossings, as well as preventing trespassing on or near railroad tracks.
