May 20, 2024 - City of Albuquerque is reconstructing the pedestrian ramp at the Alvarado Transportation Center (ATC) on Central and 1st St. up to the Downtown Albuquerque Rail Runner Station. The ramp is closed for construction.
Passengers are being redirected to the south platform for access to the Downtown Albuquerque station. The south platform is located on the south side of the ATC ABQ RIDE bus loop and the north side of the Greyhound/Amtrak station building. Please see attached map.
UPDATE (May 9, 2025):
- Northern access to the station remains closed due to construction; it is anticipated to remain closed until Spring 2026, once ramp construction is complete.
- The City of Albuquerque is working on redevelopments to the Downtown Albuquerque area to enhance pedestrian safety and upgrade infrastructure; this includes the upcoming Rail Trail crossing at the Alvarado Transit Center and the railroad tracks along Central Ave.
Updates will be posted to this page and Rio Metro's social media platforms (Facebook: @nmrailrunner; Instagram: @rideriometro; X: @riometroalerts).
We apologize for the inconvenience of the temporary detour to our Downtown Albuquerque Station platform and appreciate the patience and understanding of our passengers.
